Mission & History

Emerging from working class Scarborough, Ontario, guitarist/songwriter Peter Shannon is embarking on a mission to create heavy music that ignites a fire inside of listeners.

After picking up a guitar at age 12, while listening to the likes of Zakk Wylde, it didn’t take long for Peter to start creating music of his own. Though he has experimented with multiple genres (including 2017’s self produced acoustic EP “The Somber City”), Peter’s love has always been heavy music. This love lead him to play in Scarborough’s melodic-death metal band, “Godsent”, and Bowmanville’s “In The Act Of Violence”.

From this same love of heavy music, Primal Charge is born. Primal Charge will focus on music that, as Peter has said, “enhances these urges inside of you that are very ancestral”, making a perfect soundtrack for weight lifting, motorcycle riding, or simply getting things accomplished.

One could describe a Primal Charge song the same way Wikipedia describes groove-metal, “slow/mid-tempo and down-tuned thrash riffs, bluesy solos, emphasized drum work...” not fast enough to be considered thrash, but heavier and more aggressive than traditional heavy metal. Stylistically similar to bands like Pantera, Devil Driver, and Lamb of God.
